APPLES is preparing middle school, high school, and undergraduate educators in polar research to engage their students in similar studies in the classroom. Educators in this project will have access to, contribute to, and disseminate information from the long-term and ongoing research project which focuses on changes in the phenology of arctic plants and how this relates to climate change. APPLES will demonstrate, through training, the results obtained by phenological observation and experimentation.
The APPLES app serves as the interface for students to collect data and share it with classrooms across the country through the APPLES website. The app allows students to input data interactively, including location, phenophase, descriptions, and a photo. Provided on additional tabs are references to information that allows for quick lookups while in the field.
For teachers, educators, or students who wish to obtain an account for participation in the project using this app, please visit www.applesproject.org and sign up.
